Case summary

Grafton Page, 30, a worker for a gas distributing system, was allegedly beaten to death in 1934, by “members of his own race” in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. Page was alleged to have insulted a Black girl who had been out riding with him, according to NAACP files. Deputy Sheriff W.G. Frye reported that he would make “no effort to locate the lynchers,” according to newspaper accounts.
