Detroit Robinson (1922 – 1947), a laborer, was killed by off-duty police officer Thomas C. Cort, in Miami, Florida. Robinson was in the passenger seat of a car that nearly collided with the car that Cort was riding in. The officer shot Robinson. Cort was clear by a magistrate who ruled the shooting to be a justifiable homicide.
