Killing of Canary Campbell in Florida in 1954
Incident
Canary Campbell (1927 - 1954), a laborer, was killed by police officer Lucius Clark in Lake County, Florida. Clark claimed that after stopping Campbell’s car to inspect the driver’s license he shot Campbell because Campbell threatened him with a pair of pliers. Clark wascleared by a coroner’s jury.
