Killing of James Fisher in Georgia in 1953
Incident
James Fisher, age 45, a handyman, died in 1953 in Atlanta, Georgia. Police claimed that Fisher died of a fractured skull after being thrown from a trolley by its operator. The NAACP claimed that Fisher was carried from the city jail to the hospital with a head injury and that he died in police custody.
