Thomas Edison Porter, 28, a navy veteran and vocational school student, was killed in 1949 by G.H. Miller in Wilkinson County, Georgia. Miller allegedly intervened as Porter was allegedly “shaking up” a teenager. When Porter tried to flee, Miller shot him. A coroner’s jury ruled justifiable homicide.
