Killing of Charles Green Jones in South Carolina in 1943
Incident
Charles Green Jones (1910-1943), a pipefitter, was killed by Charles F. Peet in Charleston, South Carolina. Jones was on a picket line for a labor union that was striking against a construction company. Allan M. Scarborough, a company foreman, attacked Jones. As the two men fought for Scarborough’s gun, Peet, a company representative, fatally shot Jones. Trial jury acquitted.
