Killing of Levon Carlock in Tennessee in 1933
Incident
Levon Carlock, age 19, a laborer, was killed in 1933 by police in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. Carlock was meeting his wife at the hotel where she was working as a maid. Police seized him, alleging he had harassed a white woman. He was beaten, tortured, and shot to death by six police officers.
