Killing of Edgar Brown in Mississippi in 1949
Incident
Edgar Brown (1923 - 1949), WWII veteran and a farmer, died in Bolivar County, Mississippi. Brown was serving a six-month jail sentence in the county farm for assault and battery. Brown’s father alleged that he had learned from C. Wells, an eyewitness, that police officers shot Brown on the county farm. An FBI investigation reports that at the time of his death, Brown’s death certificate reported that he died of heat prostration.
