Killing of Jessie Hood in Alabama in 1951
Incident
Jessie Hood (1919 - 1951), a miner, was killed by Police Chief G. A. Warren in Oakman, Walker County, Alabama. The officer said he was called to the home of Lloyd Colvin because Hood had been creating a disturbance there. When Warren arrived he found Hood in a car at the front of the house. Warren claimed he shot Hood when, after pulling the man out of his car, the victim advanced on him with a knife. Criminal charges were pursued against the assailant, Oakman.
