Killing of Eddie B. Harris in Alabama in 1950

Eddie B. Harris (1909?-1950) was killed by deputy sheriff Clarence Johnson in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Johnson was searching Harris’s car for bootleg whiskey. Harris fled from the car, and Johnson shot him. A state trial jury acquitted. Subsequently, Johnson was charged with violating Harris’s civil rights. Outcome unknown.
