Killing of Benson Lamar in Alabama
Incident
Benson Lamar, 70, a farmer and blacksmith, was killed in 1945 by unknown persons in Autauga County, Alabama. Lamar’s mutilated body was found tied to a tree on his land. Lamar was a successful farmer and prominent community member. Accounts were to the effect that his death was an act of racial violence.
