Killing of George J. Van Buren in Georgia in 1939
Incident
George J. Van Buren, age 47, a school principal, was killed in 1939 by unknown shooter(s) in Adel, Cook County, Georgia. At the time of his death, Van Buren was principal of a local training school and was preparing to open a new vocational school. He was shot on the porch of his home. Deputy Sheriff W.R. Lott had seven people arrested. Grand jury outcome unknown.
