Killing of Carlyle William Mason in North Carolina in 1934
Incident
Carlyle William Mason (1896 – 1934), a pharmacist and veteran, was killed by Francis Yonge Legare, Jr., in New Hanover County, North Carolina. Legare entered Mason’s drugstore and fatally shot Mason following a robbery. Trial jury convicted. Legare was sentenced to 20 to 25 years for the murder.
