Killing of Dave Tillis in Texas in 1932
Incident
Dave Tillis, 52, a tenant farmer, was killed in 1932 by four men in Crockett County, Texas. Tillis was accused of entering a white woman’s bedroom. Arch Maples, his landlord, claimed that he was on his way to turn Tillis over to the police when four men grabbed Tillis and hanged him on a tree.
