Killing of Coleman Franks in Mississippi in 1931
Incident
Coleman Franks (a/k/a Coleman Hooper) was killed in 1931 by a lynch mob in Caledonia, Lowndes County, Mississippi. Franks was being held at a prison camp pending trial for wounding Clyde Bell, a white farmer, during a fight. The mob seized Franks from the prison and hanged him.
