Raymond Smith, Jr. (1928 - 1950), a plasterer, was killed by police officers R. E. Dyer and C. B. Shivers in Birmingham, Alabama. Smith was standing on the street when he was stopped and searched. The officers accused Smith of attacking Shivers with a knife. They shot him to death.
