Killing of Henry Gardner in Alabama in 1948
Incident
Henry Gardner, 29, a farmer, was found dead in 1948 on a highway near Hayneville, Lowndes County, Alabama. He had suffered a fractured skull and other injuries. Gardner had left his farm the day before with two women. He was seen in a juke joint known as the Race Track later that night. There were accounts to the effect that he had been killed and left for dead.
