Killing of Leroy Lee Hepburn in Florida
Incident
Leroy Lee Hepburn, a veteran, was possibly lynched in Monroe County, Florida. A flyer sent by the NAACP in February 1948 to the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows stated that Hepburn was lynched by Joe Ke– (document was cut out at the last name) and Jose Espinoza, a candidate for constable. The flier urged the organization members and their friends not to vote for Espinoza.
