Killing of Lewis Harris in Georgia in 1935
Incident
Lewis Harris was lynched and killed by a mob in 1935 in Dooly County, Georgia. Harris was arrested, allegedly for drunkenness and for threatening a white sheriff with a gun. While being transferred to another city for safekeeping, Harris was abducted by the mob.
